Collection Canisters & Baskets

Vacuum collection canisters and the debris baskets that drop into them. Three canister types cover nearly every delivery unit in the field.

Type A, B and C

Type A (#30-60) and Type C (#30-59) are the two older shapes; Type B comes with a twist lid (#30-61) or a push lid (#30-63), and is the one most practices meet on newer units. Practice Tip #121 covers telling them apart when nothing is marked. Order the canister and the matching basket together — the baskets are type-specific and the wrong one simply sits proud of the seat.

Keep a spare canister, not just spare baskets

Canisters crack at the lid thread and at the base, usually from being over-tightened, and a cracked canister leaks vacuum quietly rather than obviously — the practice loses suction across the operatory and starts looking at the pump. A spare on the shelf turns that into a two-minute swap. Baskets are the daily consumable: #18-90, #18-91, #18-94, #18-95, and the A-dec, DCI and Pelton & Crane fits.
