Of course keeping a good number of handpieces on hand is always in order, but to maximize handpiece performance and turbine life, adequate and properly performed maintenance is vital. According to handpiece repair professionals, inadequate or improper maintenance is the #1 cause of premature failure of handpieces. Inadequate maintenance has also been attributed by the FDA to patient burns from electric handpieces.
